In all major cities, there is an efficient Public transport system at affordable prices. You save not only parking fees, but also time and nerves, if you just use the metro or buses during the day. On city trips to Lisbon and Porto you are not dependent on your own vehicle or cabs. How to get to each attraction by public transport will of course be explained in your individual travel documents.

The Portuguese railroad network has – in terms of speed – been significantly improved in recent years; however, it has been v.a. in the rural areas very thinned out. This means that you will only be able to reach the area with your own car or a rental car. The same is true for many of Portugal’s dream beaches and nature reserves. In addition, we have a variety of accommodations in the program, which are located in quiet isolated locations and unspoiled nature. Therefore, for longer trips in Portugal, especially those in rural areas, it is recommended to have your own means of transportation – be it car, motorcycle or bicycle.

cabs

Today’s cabs in Portugal are beige-ivory, but you can also see old models with black paint and a green roof. The inner-city fare is always displayed on the fare indicator (taximeter). For the cab call by radio an additional fee of 0,80 € will be charged; for luggage transport in the trunk 1,60 €, regardless of the number and weight of the luggage items. The transport of baby baskets, strollers, wheelchairs or walkers is free of charge. Any tolls incurred on journeys between two locations are at the expense of the client, for both outward and return journeys. The payment of tips is voluntary, usual is about 10% of the fare. A list of applicable prices is posted inside the cab or can be requested from the cab driver

Bicycle and walking

Portugal has invested heavily in recent years in the development of long distance hiking and biking trails invests. These offer a particularly good opportunity to get to know the country at a quiet pace and away from all the hustle and bustle. You don’t have to miss out on any amenities, because along the individual routes we bring you to excellent accommodations and have many, self-tested restaurant recommendations ready for you. A reliable and safe luggage transport between the respective accommodations is a matter of course and the level of catering (lunch packages, lunch and dinner) we are happy to adapt to your needs. For our hiking and biking tours we also provide detailed maps, and if desired these can also be done with your own guide. Thanks to our numerous contacts with reliable bicycle rental companies, it is not necessary to take your own bicycle with you to Portugal. Depending on how much time you have available and how fit you feel, we will set up an individually adjusted hiking or. Bicycle route together for you.

Rental car

There is a lot to be said for a trip to Portugal with a rental car: You are flexible in terms of time and can move around completely freely even far from the beaten tourist tracks. This will extremely enhance your Portugal vacation, because especially the rural regions present themselves absolutely authentic and original.

Driving in Portugal is also no greater challenge for the driver than in German-speaking countries. It is even rather easier, because away from Lisbon and Porto the highways are much less frequented than with us. The highways and also the bigger national roads are also in a very good condition.

Sure, in big cities like Lisbon and Porto, driving can be nerve-wracking. But we plan your Portugal rental car trip have a rental car in these cities, if possible. Example: You begin the round trip in Porto and take over the rented car only on the day on which you leave Porto. You could end the round trip in Lisbon and drop off the rental car as soon as you arrive there. Depending on the city (Porto or Lisbon) and the location of the accommodation, we will show you whether it makes more sense to pick up the rental car at the hotel (for a fee), at the city station or at the airport, or at the airport. to be delivered.

In addition, you will receive a lot of helpful information in your travel documents, which will make your rental car trip much easier. In addition to extremely detailed route descriptions, we give you tips on how to pick up your rental car (z.B. do I need an additional insurance?) as well as for further travel (z.B. can I – and if so, where – leave my car with luggage to go sightseeing). Even after the trip we will support you in all matters: Should you z.B. caused a damage, we will help you to get back the excess quickly and unbureaucratically. And last but not least we will inform you comprehensively how the toll in Portugal works and how you can deal with it in the easiest and cheapest way.

We cooperate with different car rental companies, so we can offer you a wide range of car categories (small car, medium car, station wagon, van, convertible, with/without automatic transmission) and choose the best provider for you depending on the situation. For example, if you want to pick up the rental car in Lisbon and drop it off in Faro, we prefer to choose a car rental company that does not charge extra for one-way rentals (= renting a car at one station and dropping it off at another station). We take into account your personal needs and other important details such as additional drivers or fuel arrangements, to then offer you the rental car with the best price-performance ratio to offer.

Our car rental tours always receive All-inclusive package with the following benefits:

  • Unlimited kilometers
  • Fully comprehensive cover (CDW), without deductible
