Pure e-luxury – the 5 most expensive e-cars

Luxury sleigh – this word can be used to describe the five e-cars presented here with justification. Not only the price is high, but also the level of equipment, workmanship and engine performance. The “most affordable” luxury e-car currently is the Audi e-Tron. Although there is also a Tesla in the list, around two million euros separate the Model S from first place in its highest configuration.

Audi e-Tron – 83.000 euros

The Audi e-Tron luxury SUV has been available for purchase since March 2019. The electric vehicle delivers its 408 horsepower to the roads and off-road tracks via the top chassis. The manufacturer puts the battery’s output at 95 kWh. An average driver achieves a distance of 446 kilometers with the Audi e-Tron in normal weather conditions. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. It reaches its top speed at 200 km/h.

The e-Tron offers space for the driver and four passengers. The storage space of 660 liters in the trunk is adequate for an SUV of the upper class. Special highlights of the e-Tron provide a sense of luxury. This includes, for example, the virtual exterior mirrors and also the front seats with memory function.

According to the manufacturer, virtual exterior mirrors were installed in a production car for the first time on the e-Tron. On the outside of the e-Tron on both sides a small holder is attached, which hides in each case a fitting camera. The images from these cameras are digitally processed and displayed clearly for the driver on high-contrast OLED displays between the instrument panel and door. The brightness of the displays adjusts automatically depending on the light conditions. The proximity sensor in the displays recognizes when you approach with a finger and immediately displays the control icons. For example, the image section can be easily shifted or the passenger mirror can be adjusted.

The preferred seating position of two drivers can be set via the internal memory (memory function). The seat height, the longitudinal position of the seat, the backrest angle and the lumbar support are all adjusted automatically.

The Audi e-Tron is available from around 83.000 euros to purchase.

Tesla Model S – 150.000 euros

The Tesla name is synonymous with fast-paced luxury and maximum comfort, especially in e-cars. All models of the electric vehicle specialist belong to the luxury class category. It is known that the Tesla Model X costs around 108 Euros in standard equipment.000 euros. The model S costs only 5.000 euros less. The slimmed-down versions of the two vehicles cost 92.000 (Model X) and 87.000 (Model S) Euro.

But Tesla wouldn’t be Tesla if they couldn’t raise the price and the comfort into other spheres with a special model. For the special “Project California” model of the Tesla Model S with all the bells and whistles, you quickly put down 150.000 euros. For pampered e-car drivers, this model offers all sorts of convenient bells and whistles. Not only do you get a complete set of “GhostGold” aluminum wheels, of course the leather upholstery is custom-made. With some luxury, one can also ask oneself the question of meaningfulness here. This is how the Tesla logo is projected onto the floor of the vehicle in this special model.

Beside the Model S you can also buy the Tesla Model X in a luxurious version. For 111.780 euros you get the Model X P100D. This vehicle gets more power from its 100 kWh battery. This alone costs 20.000 euros. With this power unit in the vehicle, the Tesla Model X P100D manages about 600 kilometers of range with average driving. The standard luxury Model X, on the other hand, only achieves a maximum range of 370 kilometers.

Porsche Taycan – 185.000 Euro

VW’s high-class brand Porsche also sends a luxury e-car into the race. The Porsche Taycan Turbo S costs around 185.000 Euro. The Porsche Taycan Turbo, on the other hand, costs only approx. 152.000 euros.

Success speaks for the Taycan. The good sales figures prompted those responsible at Porsche to increase production capacity for the luxury e-car at the end of 2019. For connoisseurs, it should be said at this point that the Taycan as a four-door coupe is located half a class below the Porsche Panameras.

The 4-door is powered by two synchronous motors with 800 volts. This gives the Taycan 680 or 760 hp. Experienced drivers of the Taycan Turbo S can accelerate the electric vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds. The Taycan’s battery is embedded in the floor of the vehicle between the axles. This gives rear-seat passengers more legroom and a pleasant foot feeling on longer journeys.

According to the manufacturer, it’s not the luxury features in the interior that are the most important selling point. The battery in the Taycan Cross Turismo, for example, can be charged from 0 to 80 percent within 15 minutes. Porsche has registered 260 km/h as the top speed for the Taycan. With a moderate driving style, the Taycan drives ca. 388 kilometers without having to be recharged.

Aston Martin Rapide – 275.000 Euro

The British way of life is characterized by high standards, living luxury and a sense for beautiful things. The British car manufacturer Aston Martin has created a strictly limited vehicle model series with the Rapide, which as an aerodynamic e-car is already considered to be the upcoming mobile leading actor in the next James Bond film adventure.

The supercar with the correct name Aston Martin Rapide E was presented to the public at the Shanghai Auto Show in 2020. The “standard equipment” of this electric vehicle can be had for a mere 275 euros.000 euros. This makes the Aston Martin Rapide E the most expensive e-car built in the UK to date. It is also the first all-electric car from the British luxury carmaker.

155 is an important number for the vehicle. This is the number of units produced of this high-quality piece of engineering art.

For those lucky enough to have snapped up one of the coveted e-cars, the Rapide E offers 612 hp, a range of 320 kilometers and acceleration from 0 to 100 in 4.0 seconds. The four occupants can travel at a maximum speed of 248 km/h.

Pininfarina Battista – 2.2 million euros

If you were to buy all four of these vehicles together, you would have to pay less than for a single Pininfarina Battista. This Italian high-speed luxury e-car costs no less than 2.2 million euros.

On the market since 2020, the development of the Pininfarina Battista was advised by former German Formula 1 driver Nick Heidfeld. The number of units is limited to 150. The most affordable version of the Pininfarina Battista costs just 1.75 million euros. It is manufactured in Turin.

What makes the Pininfarina Battista so costly is its performance capacity. With a maximum torque of 2.300 Nm it reaches for a car fabulous 1.900 horsepower. This power accelerates the 1.610 kilogram projectile from 0 to 100 km/h in under 2 seconds. It passes the 200 km/h mark in less than 6 seconds. On the way to its maximum speed of over 350 km/h, it breaks the 300 km/h mark in under 12 seconds.

With the battery power of 120 kWh, you can thus achieve between 450 and 500 kilometers of range with an average driving style.
