For selected shipments, we now offer our DHL live tracking: Track your shipment in real time on a map! We show you how long it will take the DHL driver to reach you, where your shipment is at the moment and how many stops your parcel carrier still has to make before he reaches you. We regularly update possible time shifts for you.

If you are not at home at the specified time of delivery, you still have the option of dropping off your shipment at a drop-off location
or drop off at your neighbor’s. With DHL it’s possible.

Tip

Simply give franked parcels and returns to our DHL delivery staff free of charge. With the mobile parcel label or the mobile returns label your delivery agent will even print out the shipping label for you!

This is how live tracking works

1. parcel notification

As registered customer On the morning of the delivery, you will receive a parcel notification by e-mail and/or push message with details of the 90-minute delivery window and a link to live tracking.

2. Call up live tracking

Call up the live tracking link, enter your zip code and track the location of your shipment live! Live tracking can also be found on the Post& DHL App.

3. Receive parcel flexibly

If you are not at home, you can specify a drop-off location or neighbors for delivery until shortly before delivery.

What is live tracking?

DHL Live Tracking allows you to track your shipment on the day of delivery on a map in near real time and informs you when your shipment will be delivered to your home address.

Provided that live tracking is available for your shipment, the following information will be displayed after you have entered your ZIP code for security purposes:

  • Delivery time window of 90 minutes
  • Countdown of the remaining delivery stops until delivery
  • Google Maps map with recipient’s address and current position of the delivery vehicle

You can check the live tracking in the shipment tracking under dhl.de or in the Post& Google Maps map Call up the DHL App and enter your shipment number.

Notice: Please note that live tracking does not provide information about the complete route of your shipment and is only available on the day of delivery.

Why is the live tracking not displayed even though I received a link to the live tracking by e-mail??

In principle, we always offer live tracking when we know with a high degree of probability that we will be able to meet the displayed information on delivery time and delivery stops.

You can choose to have live tracking announced to you by email in the morning and displayed early in the day. In the course of the delivery route, however, there may then be a delay due to unforeseen events (z.B. unexpectedly high traffic volume or bad weather) that we have to switch off the live tracking underground because we can no longer guarantee that we will be able to keep to the tour.

In addition, there may be several other reasons why live tracking is not displayed:

  • Your shipment has already been delivered.
  • You were not found at home and your shipment is ready to be picked up at a post office branch/parcel shop/packing station.
  • The delivery had to be cancelled for unexpected reasons and can only be continued the next day.
  • There is a technical error. In this case you will get an error message.

Why is the live tracking not available everywhere?

In principle, we always offer live tracking when we know with a high degree of probability that we will be able to meet the displayed information on the delivery time and delivery stops.

Especially in urban areas, our forecast for delivery time and delivery stops cannot always be made due to daily changing destination addresses, changing routes and highly fluctuating shipment volumes. If we detect some uncertainty, it may happen that where we could generally provide live tracking, we do not show it for every shipment.

However, we are working hard to improve our processes to provide you with reliable live tracking for as many shipments as possible.

In addition, for operational reasons, live tracking is unfortunately not yet available in all regions of Germany (e.g., if you are not at home, please contact us).B. not yet on islands).

I have not received a link to the live tracking, or. not for all my shipments. What could be the reason?

That live tracking is not available or. is not available for each of your shipments may be due to the following reasons:

1.) Your shipment belongs to one of the following categories:

  • DHL parcels
  • DHL bulky goods
  • Shipments addressed to a branch or packing station.

Live tracking is not provided for these shipments.

2.) We show a live tracking delivery time window only if we can meet it with high probability. This may not always be the case for individual shipments, especially in urban areas. However, we are working hard to improve our processes in order to offer you reliable live tracking for as many shipments as possible.
