Further model variants for 2 Series Coupe, 2 Series Active Tourer plus various new details
Parallel to the sales launch of the new BMW 8 Series, the new M8 model family, the iX M60 and the special edition X2 Goldplay, the brand is adding additional drive variants and equipment features to other models. This follows a tradition of making various changes below the major LCI facelifts every year in spring and fall.
From March 2022, new model variants will expand the variety of services offered for the BMW 2 Series Coupe, 2 Series Active Tourer and 4 Series Gran Coupe. Parking Assistant Professional, presented for the first time, is offered as an option for all model variants of the BMW iX, allowing the vehicle to be maneuvered via smartphone. The My BMW app also includes additional functions that make charging the high-voltage battery in BMW’s all-electric and plug-in hybrid models even more convenient.
New driver assistance systems, available as an option in the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer as well as X3 and X4 models, provide added comfort and convenience. In addition, the range of exterior colors, upholstery variants and light-alloy wheels for the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, the i4, the iX and the M5 will be expanded to include further variants for spring 2022. To mark the 50th anniversary of BMW M GmbH, historically themed “BMW Motorsport” options will be available as an option for M automobiles and in conjunction with an M sports package-Emblems offered.

Let’s start with the new BMW 2 Series Coupe: it will be available from March 2022 in another variant. The fourth engine option for the two-door model will be a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with an output of 180 kW (245 hp) and maximum torque of 400 Nm. The new drive unit is used in the BMW 230i Coupe with classic rear-wheel drive.
The 230i is combined as standard with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. Features and functions include paddle shifters on the steering wheel and Launch Control, which allows the coupe to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. Optional features available for the new model variant include an M sports differential in the rear-axle transmission.
The second-generation BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is also completely new, and will also be available with intelligent all-wheel drive from March 2022. The new 223i xDrive Active Tourer is the fifth model variant of the compact van. The xDrive system transmits the power of a four-cylinder gasoline engine with 48-volt mild hybrid technology to all four wheels as needed.
The powertrain produces 160 kW (218 hp), generated jointly by its combustion engine with up to 150 kW (204 hp) and the electric drive with up to 14 kW (19 hp). The new model variant accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds.
The new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer will also be available in the new exterior color “Piedmont Red metallic” from March 2022 available. In addition, the range of functions of the optionally available Driving Assistant Plus is extended to include the Steering and Lane Guidance Assist systems.

At speeds of up to 180 km/h, the system helps the driver to keep the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer in the middle of the lane with the help of corrective steering interventions. In addition, the Driving Assistant Plus includes Active Cruise Control with Stop& Go function including automatic Speed Limit Assist.
The range of optionally available driver assistance systems will also be expanded for the BMW X3 and X4 models in spring 2022. Here, from April 2022 onwards, Active Cruise Control with Stop&Start is available Go function available.’Unlike the already standard cruise control with brake function, it not only keeps the desired speed between 30 and 160 km/h constant, but also the distance to vehicles ahead, which can be selected by the driver in four stages.
The model range for the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe will include a further variant for spring 2022. The 430i xDrive Gran Coupe is the third model in the series to be available with all-wheel drive. Performance and maximum torque match the 230i Coupe.
The standard equipment of the new BMW 430i xDrive Gran Coupe also includes an 8-speed automatic transmission. This combination of engine, transmission and all-wheel drive enables acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds.

In addition to the new drive variant, the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe will also be available from March 2022 with a wide range of additional options for customising the exterior and interior of the vehicle. These are also available for the all-electric BMW i4 and include new exterior colors and leather trim as well as an M Carbon exterior package.
New in the range of body colors are the BMW Individual special paint finishes “Brilliant white metallic and “Frozen Dark Grey metallic. In addition, the BMW Individual paint finishes “Frozen Pure Grey metallic” are available for the respective BMW M automobiles and in conjunction with the M Sport model and “Frozen Portimao Blue metallic” offered.

The M Carbon exterior package, previously reserved solely for the BMW i4 M50, will also be available for all other model variants of the BMW i4 and the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe from March 2022, also in conjunction with the M Sport model. It includes surrounds for the air curtains in the front apron, exterior mirror caps, a rear spoiler and diffuser insert panels made of the equally lightweight and striking carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic.
In the interior of the BMW i4 and the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, particularly high-quality accents can now be set with the extended BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery in the color variants Black, Ivory White, Tartufo, Fjord Blue/Black and Fion Red/Black. For an even more exclusive ambience, the BMW Individual full leather Merino trim is available in the same colors and also includes leather upholstery on the instrument panel.
The BMW iX underpins its status as a technology flagship with the premiere of a new and unique system for automated parking. Parking Assistant Professional, which will be available for all model variants from March 2022 onwards, enables particularly convenient parking and unparking in automated driving mode.
The system can use GPS and trajectory data defined by steering movements to store various maneuvers with a distance of up to 200 meters each. When arriving again at the respective starting point, Parking Assistant Professional can then take over the complete driving task including accelerating, braking, steering and changing between forward and reverse gear. The driver can concentrate on monitoring the surroundings during the automated maneuvering maneuver.
The individual paint finish “Oxide Grey metallic” is also new in the equipment range for all model variants of the BMW iX and 22-inch M aerodynamic wheels in Bicolor titanium bronze with 3D gloss finish.
New exterior colors will be available for the BMW M5 in spring 2022: “Sophistogrey brilliant effect metallic”, “San Remo Green metallic” and “Skyscraper Gray metallic and the BMW Individual paint finish “Frozen Deep Grey metallic” provide.
In the anniversary year of BMW M GmbH, a historic trademark also makes a comeback. For all of the brand’s performance and high-performance sports cars, as well as for BMW models that hit the road as an M Sport model or with an M sports package, the classic “BMW Motorsport” trim is available on request Emblems available for the hood, tailgate and wheel hub covers.
Its design is based on the blue, purple and red logo first used in 1973 on the racing cars of BMW Motorsport GmbH, which was founded the year before. For its 50th anniversary, BMW M GmbH offers its customers the opportunity to choose the classic emblems.
