Wolfsburg, 2. October 2008 – VW introduces the VW Phaeton of the model year 2009 in detail. For the first time, the new version of the upper classelimousine is shown on the Paris Motor Show of 4. until 19. October 2008.
New V6 petrol engine with 40 hp more power
As a "base gasoline", a 3,6-liter V6 petrol engine with direct injection and 280 hp is served. He lost the 3.2-liter V6 with 241 hp. The new FSI is known from the VW Touareg. It develops a maximum torque of 360 Newton meters that bears between 2500 and 5000 revolutions. The maximum performance of the four-valtie is available at 6250 rpm. As before, the Phaeton has a six-speed automatic, a four-wheel drive and an electronically controlled air suspension. The Phaeton V6 FSI reaches the 100 km / h mark out of the stand in 8.6 seconds, the highest speed is limited electronically to 250 km / h. The consumption decreases against the old V6 from 12.1 to 11.7 liters. So the car now emits 273 instead of 288 grams per kilometer. In addition to the new V6, the two V8 and W12 petrol engineers also involve 335 or 450 hp now the Euro-5 emission standard applicable from September 2009. As one of the first engines worldwide, the V6 TDI with 3.0 liters of displacement and 233 hp of this standard already corresponds since early 2007.
Other operation of the air conditioning
In the interior, the Phaeton has a redesigned center console. This also changed the control of the Fourzone climate control: The temperature is then set via the rotary control and displayed permanently digitally over the controller. Also, the keys of the individual supply functions have been redesigned. The essential part of the new center console is the new infotainment systems. The simpler, serial variant is called RCD 810, while the optional version with navigation system carries the short RNS 810.
