Wolfsburg, 11. December 2012 – VW introduces two new, particularly powerful versions of the small car Polo. A variant of the Polo R WRC is intended for normal strain traffic and becomes around 40 hp strongly than the Polo GTI. The other model should compete in the FIA Rally Championship from 2013.
Significantly more expensive than the GTI
The strongest series polo is powered by a two-liter turbomotor with 220 hp and a maximum torque of 350 nm. The spurt from zero to 100 km / h should succeed in 6.4 seconds, the top speed at 243 km / h. The polo is only offered with a manual six-speed gearbox. Consumption in the NEFZ specifies VW with 7.5 l / 100 km. Presumably, this engine will soon be used in other models as the next Golf GTI.
The first copies of the Polo R WRC will be delivered in September 2013. The price is 33.900 euros. VW delivers a fair extensive standard equipment. Expector properties include radio with navigation system, automatic climate control, cruise control, bi-xenon light and 18-inch aluminum with it. Thus, he relates to the Polo GTI clearly, but also more than 10.000 Euro costs less and with the choice of special equipment lets more freedoms.
Significantly strong is the Polo R WRC in the version for the Rally WM. His engine makes 315 hp, which should accelerate the 1200 kilogram light competitive vehicle in just 3.9 seconds to 100 km / h. In two vehicles Sebastien Ogier with co-pilot Julien Ingrassia (both France) and Jari-Matti Latvala and his passenger Miikka Anttila (both Finland) to the start. From the Rally Portugal, the fourth run in the World Cup calendar, VW wants to use a third car. In the cockpit, the Volkswagen Junior Pilot Andreas Mikkelsen from Norway is sitting with the Finnish co-pilot Mikko Markula. In addition to Formula 1, the Rally World Cup is considered one of the most important global automotive series series.
