Shanghai (China), 21. April 2009 – Volkswagen does not attend special attention to the Asian market since yesterday. Already in 1984, the activities of the Wolfsburg began in the People’s Republic. It is close that the German carmaker is also on the "Car Shanghai" from 20. to 28. April 2009 is strongly represented. The focus of the trade fair appearance is the new Passat Lingyu as well as the Golf VI.
Further developed China Passat
The Passat Lingyu, which was tailored to the local market, was further developed on the basis of the transaction of the Chinese tunnel. In doing so, the engineers have laid particular importance to an elegant interior and the reduction of consumption and emissions. For example, the performance of the 1.8-liter aggregate in Passat Lingyu increased from 150 to 163 hp, but at the same time reduced consumption by 15 percent from 7.3 to 6.2 liters per 100 kilometers. On the whole new in the Chinese market, however, is the Gulf. The sixth edition of the compact car classic celebrates its China premiere in Shanghai and is presented with the 1.4-liter TSI and the seven-stage double-clutch transmission DSG.
Winter grain promises billions in investments
With the sales figures of the first quarter of 2009 in China, Volkswagen has significantly exceeded its expectations of the beginning of the year. In addition to the models produced so far in the country, the automaker wants to offer some particularly consumables and low-emission vehicles under the label BlueMotion. The still growing importance of the Chinese market for VW HOB Group Chief Martin Winterkorn emphasized: "2009 and 2010 alone invest 1.6 billion euros in employees, factories and attractive vehicles for China. We want to expand our position as the most successful carmaker."
